Preface (to Book II.)

After nineteen years of marriage and 11½ years of successful homeschooling, Juliana Harvard came out as a lesbian, though she had never been with another woman. She spent six months on a quest to find her “Rainbow” (code word for the first time with a woman).

During that time, she realized her straight best girlfriend, Megan, will not be that person! She became acquainted with many other “lesbian wives” on America Online and Prodigy. She also was befriended online by a Seventh-day Adventist pastor who is “straight but not narrow” and helped Juliana discover what the Bible really says about homosexuality—and that it is not a form of demon possession! Pastor Rob encouraged Juliana to become a beautiful butterfly instead of an ugly moth.

Her beloved firstborn son Adam wanted to attend a “real” school and was determined to go to Mission Academy, a self-supporting institution where many of his homeschool friends were going. Juliana sensed she would need some part-time employment to help pay Adam’s tuition, and so she found a church pianist job at a local Methodist church, which also provided some personal and professional fulfillment.

Finally, after a near-tragedy with a flat tire on her car while secretly visiting a “gay church” (Agape Metropolitan Community Church), Juliana had an epiphany while playing for the Methodist church choir to sing “Surely It Is God Who Saves Me.” And she knew for sure that it’s okay with God that she’s gay! But will it be okay with God if she ever finds her “Rainbow”? And, if she does, then what?
