Ah, child! my child, my own--
		lying there so peaceful still
		in your soft blue pajamas
Do you realize what you've done to my life?
Upset it completely,
		my routines, the scheduled hours
		that fit together so perfectly--
Now the unexpected, the spontaneous games
		that interrupt my day
					are the rule.
You molded and shaped me, as you grew
		inside of me,
		as you twisted and turned
and made your way to daylight.
You have given me fresh, new perspective,
an exciting glimpse of God's love.
Besides giving me the best year of my life--
		the pregnancy year--
You have caused me to grow up, to mature,
to understand womanhood in its fullness,
To become confident of me, as I learned to
					care for you.
		my son, little man
		sleeping so sweetly now--
I love you immensely
		and shall love you forever.
