Once I had a lover-- Love! He loved me so, Once I was a lover, Long time ago. We were very young then, Young, too young to know, We were, oh, so young then! Long time ago. It was in the springtime, Earth was all aglow; Love was born in springtime, Long time ago. Summer love did ripen, Warm and sweet did grow; Full was love in summer, Long time ago. Autumn love was silent, Strong the North winds blow; Still was love in autumn, Long time ago. Winter love did wither, Heavy came the snow; Love did die in winter, Long time ago. Spring will be tomorrow, Swiftly time does flow; Yesterday was winter, Long time ago. Love may come again, though When I do not know; Love may come as once was, Long time ago. --1973
