I had become increasingly dissatisfied with my desk chair which I had purchased in 2010. I got it because it could lean back with an elevated foot rest, but there was never really quite room enough in my home office on Haight Street to completely lean it back. When I got it, I then took my old desk chair to the office, because we had just moved into a new facility and my desk chair got allocated to another desk and I needed a desk chair. So what better than to have my own desk chair from home! But I digress.
Now, after more than 7 years, this “new” desk chair had become quite dilapidated. The vinyl on the left arm had broken and fallen off completely. The chair no longer stayed in position whenever I tried to elevate it. In short, it was time for a new desk chair! So Linda and I took a trip to Office Max in Alameda and spent an inordinate amount of time looking at and trying out ergonomic desk chairs. When I finally selected the one I wanted, I spied a two-drawer wooden file cabinet on sale. It was about 50% bigger than the one I had and, because it was new, the drawers came in and out much more smoothly. We left Office Max with a purchase of $400. All to help my computer desk ergonomics and thus, hopefully, reduce my chronic neck pain.
