I have spent many years wishing I had a medical cannabis card. It has been legal in California since 1996, the year I moved to California from Texas. That, in itself, should have some significance. But for the last five years, I have not known where to look or who to ask to find out how to go about getting a card and then determining what products I should have.
Every now and then, I would ask on Facebook and I got rather generalized answers from people who did not live in my geographical vicinty. Other times, I would ask on my Timeline for helpful information on how to find a doctor locally who could give me a medical cannabis card. And then how to find a reliable source of medical cannabis products. Some people gave me general information but nothing specific. My son-in-law told me I could get a digital and printed copy of my medical records from Kaiser in case a “cannabis doctor” needed to see them. I actually went through this process, which was difficult for me, being the introvert that I am, but I ended up with a DVD of my digital medical records. And an invoice from Kaiser (which I don’t think I ever paid). Eventually, it would be possible to get one’s digital medical records online from the members’ area of the Kaiser website!
Early last year, when I was struggling with a siege of migraines, I decided to try a very small amount of the “Gummie Cares” that our daughter had left in our bathroom medicine cabinet before she moved out in December of 2014. On February 8, 2015, I posted, “Gummies are wonderful. Everything grays out…like a hyperlink that no longer works….” Then on March 5, 2016, I said simply, *needing more gummies*.
Sometime during the month of October 2017, a Facebook friend messaged me asked me if I had seen “The Sacred Plant,” a webinar series that was currently being broadcast on the internet. “No,” I told her. “What IS the ‘sacred plant’?” I asked with naïveté. “Medical marijuana,” she responded, surprised that I didn’t know!
I found “The Sacred Plant” and registered to watch it, even though some of the episodes were already unavailable (past their allotted viewing time). But I got just enough information to be jazzed. And passionate about exploring further! I was in luck, because by November 1, 2017, The Sacred Plant, Season 1, was published on YouTube.
