When I asked a Facebook friend how to make cannabutter, here’s what he said:
TD: I used about 24 grams of shake in 1.5 lbs butter. Made for some powerful butter.
Me: What is “shake”? (I need educating!) I would LOVE to be able to make cannabutter and cannacookies. Just not sure I would get everything right!
TD: Shake in this case is what I trimmed off the buds.
Me: How do you process it before you can mix it with food ingredients?
TD: Get a double boiler pot. It is easy to do.
Me: Okay, that’s a start. I’ll see if I can find my double boiler tomorrow. Thx.
TD: I work the shake through a sieve onto a cookie sheet. Bake in the oven at 240 for 50 minutes. Add butter to double boiler and melt. Add the marijuana to the melted butter, reduce heat and cook for about 3 hours. Strain and squeeze using cheese cloth in a strainer.
Me: Sounds similar to my process for making homemade almond milk. I could probably learn to do it.
I had similar conversations with others, whose process was slightly different, but worked for them.
