Meditation (half-hour) with Dr. Whitehead. Then exercise with Francis, to review the 7 core exercises. Emphasized benefits in strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. He added in “Cardio” which he defined as any movement in place that will increase your heart rate. He taped 10 pictures of the core exercises on the walls around the room. He then instructed us in doing a “Circuit” with 1 minute of each of the exercises, interspersed in between with 1 minute of “Cardio” for a total of 20 minutes. Homework is to develop this routine at home for a 20-minute “Circuit” done multiple times during the day.
Dr. Whitehead facilitated the topics of the day, first a review of “mini-relaxation” exercises (primarily breathing and visualization). Then a reading and discussion, in class and small groups, of “Radical Acceptance.” (Google it if you want more in-depth information.) In our small group discussion, we called it “emotional and intellectual honesty.” Dr. Whitehead liked that.
