We have not been to Pacifica Pier since New Year’s Day 2016, the day it was much too cold to be there! And it was our last trip to Pacifica that we made with Barley.
But today, in the middle of summer, is a very different day–sunny, warm, and the first time we have been here with Emily. As we approached the entrance to the pier, we could smell the tantalizing aroma of hot dogs. We decided we would stop at the cafĂ© on our way back. In spite of the “No Dogs Allowed” signs, we saw several furry babies that we passed as we walked on the pier. Emily was much more interested in the sea gulls flocking around us that she was in any canines.
We walked to the end of the pier and back, and then I went inside to order our hot dogs. I had already decided that I would easily be able to eat the hot dog with mustard and onions and leave the bread. Which I did!
Emily walked as much as she wanted before getting back in the basket to ride. Then Emily continued to ride comfortably in Linda’s scooter basket while I walked.
Will I be able, in the coming weeks, to maintain this level of determination and optimism?
