Today is my fifth day with my new hearing aids, so I’m still getting used to putting them in and taking them out and discovering what I can hear that I couldn’t hear before. Last night I was hearing all kinds of strange “night noises” both inside the house and outside in the dark. Tonight is strangely very quiet, and I could think I was totally deaf except for the occasional beeps on my computer that notify me of an email or Facebook message. And I can hear the same beeps in my hearing aids which are synced to my cell phone. Plus, when I have my Garmin on, it beeps, too, whenever I get a Facebook message.
I love it that I can listen to voicemail on my phone through my hearing aids! I’m supposed to be able to answer or reject calls (on my cell phone) by manipulating the right hearing aid buttons, but I haven’t gotten any calls on my cell phone to test it out.
Pharmacy
Just before I went to bed last night, I decided to place an online order for Lyrica and meloxicam. The system said that I needed my doctor’s authorization for a meloxicam refill. About a half hour later, I got an email and a text that I had a prescription ready for pickup. So this morning, we went to the San Leandro Kaiser Pharmacy.
In spite of the line that was longer than the space allotted for it, it moved fairly quickly. My meds were ready, amazingly! And the cashier was pleasant and helpful. And it’s only taken from July until now for the pharmacy to get it right!
Update: Wednesday, December 19, 2018. I received a text that my prescription was ready for pickup, so we went to San Leandro Kaiser on our way back from Tracy. The meloxicam was ready. This is how it’s supposed to work!
Feet
When I first got my Orthofeet shoes a year ago, I could not wear regular socks with them; they were too thick. So I had to wear the thinner trouser socks or footlets. Today I was able to wear regular socks with no problem! I don’t think the shoes would have stretched, so maybe the 10 lbs I lost this year made my feet smaller, too. I don’t know.
