COVID-19 Week 5

Posted on April 18, 2020 by Jacquie

Sunday, April 12: Easter Sunday. Did not feel any different from any other Sunday, or any other day, for that matter. I did not watch, did not want to watch, any streaming Easter services. Did not feel like being productive, but I did do some work on Arlene’s articles.

Friday, April 17: I’ve had a very busy week, mostly working on Arlene’s newsletter, uploading new videos to her YouTube channel, and other miscellaneous updates. Today was a pretty crappy day, technical issues with Arlene’s website and hitting dead ends everywhere, so I closed up everything. I wanted to place an order to Harborside but their website wasn’t working right and no one was there to answer their online chat.

Then we were trying to get into the van to go to South Shore Safeway when we discovered the battery is dead, apparently. Linda is still feeling crappy. She is trying to call Safeway right now but is getting put into an endless loop in their phone system. I’m afraid she’s succumbing to that “mystery illness” that she had for a month starting on Feb. 12, the last day we were at Lisa’s house. So…the immediate future is very uncertain at the moment. I think I’ll take a shower and go to bed early.

Saturday, April 18: The kids came by this morning to deliver a “care package” (brisket, homemade soup, pico de gallo, and eggs), plus my own personalized spray bottle of hand sanitizer. Aaron brought his portable battery charger and got the van started but I needed to keep in running for awhile. Emily ran out to see “Auntie Lisa”, so happy! I went out to their car and talked to Alex through the crack in the door. After they left, I got in the van with my purse and drove around, first to and through Heron Bay just for some distance to drive, and then I went to Safeway, mask on. Almost everyone in the store was wearing a mask. I got everything except the 5% Fage yogurt, and the van started after I loaded the groceries in, so it was a success.

Later, I took Emily out for her usual walk up and down the driveway. It was sunny but windy and cool. We haven’t gotten any mail for 3 days so I wondered fleetingly if the post office might be on strike. I also haven’t gotten any email on Gmail for 3 days, so that just goes to show how unimportant Gmail is to my life.

COVID-19, mystery illness

Interesting week. I am so sorry Linda is not feeling well again. I always enjoy your post and thank you for doing this and I’m looking forward to how everything is going the next week. I have heard of quite a few people whose batteries are going dead on their car so I have been driving mine every few days and taking Toby for a drive which he likes. Take care and I’m looking forward to your next chapter.
