COVID-19 Week 6

Posted on April 25, 2020 by Jacquie

Sunday, April 19: Linda is feeling better today but still has only one egg. Emily has gained from 6.6 lb. to 7.2 lb.! I think this quarantine is hitting Emily harder than anyone else! I’m not feeding her more, but she isn’t getting her weekly long walk through South Shore and I know she misses that.

Monday, April 20: I have not been able to shop online at Harborside (Oakland) for much-needed CBD/THC tinctures. However, I had a full day of work for Arlene’s website.

Tuesday, April 21: More work for Arlene. I was not able to download free images from pixabay, pexels, and freeimages.com. So I “joined” but I’m still not able to download.

When I had Emily out for our “walk” up and down the driveway, the workmen across the street putting new roofing on Pier’s house started their very LOUD car and frightened Emily! She ran back to the house, shaking, so I had to pick her up and carry her back into the house. Linda and I petted her for a long time, then Linda gave her a dose of VetCBD, which she hasn’t had for a long time. It took a couple hours but it did calm her quite a bit.

Wednesday, April 22: On impulse (about 1 a.m.), I logged on to Harborside and clicked on San Leandro and I was able to place an order! Not the brand of 1:1 CBD/THC that I wanted but the best deal available. However, the system did not recognize me (because all my information is in the Oakland store) so I had to register, upload copies of my RealID driver’s license and front and back images of my medical cannabis card. Then I had to make an appointment for pick up and I chose curbside pick-up which (I found out later) is cash only. I selected 2:00-3:00 p.m.

I went out to the van at 1 o’clock to see if it would start. It didn’t! Lucky that Aaron left his portable battery charger so I hooked it up and got enough charge in the battery to start the van, and I just left it running. While I ate breakfast. While I took Emily out to pee. And sat and waited (with my Kindle) until Linda came out at 1:36. We had to stop at the bank first to get cash and then find the new place. So now we know where it is! Harborside San Leandro, who sells only to medical cannabis customers. It went smoothly.

After that we drove in to Alameda to the Safeway in South Shore. No 5% Fage yogurt and no Almond Breeze unsweetened chocolate almond milk. But got whole milk (though not organic) and plain kefir and buttermilk for Linda, more heavy cream, and more Ortega taco sauce. Also, on impulse, picked up a bag of Swerve brown sugar substitute. The cashier had run out of bags so it was a good thing that I had a small supply of paper bags in the van so I could put all my groceries in. The radio and car clock are not working since the battery went dead last Saturday, so Linda will have to research in the owner’s manual to try to find out why.

Today was the first day that the Bay Area counties are enforcing by law the wearing of face masks for everyone, so I just continued to wear the N95 mask in my purse.

And we had another Zoom session with Alex. Fun!

Then Linda had two frozen Eggo waffles, toasted, and slathered with melted butter and raspberry jam. Yum!

Thursday, April 23: The beginning of Ramadan for a whole month. It doesn’t affect me, personally, but I do think of the diabetic believers who have to pay attention to their diabetes during their fasting times and eating times.

I started the van and let it run for a few minutes with Emily in her car seat. She looked around for a long while, trying to figure out why the scenery wasn’t changing. But then she curled up and went to sleep.

I’m getting postal mail again, mostly junk mail, but it’s somehow comforting, just a minor sign of “normalcy.”

Saturday, April 25: I watched the La Sierra University church service online, but we were not able to take the van for a drive. So that was that.

cannabis, COVID-19
