COVID-19, Week 8

Posted on May 9, 2020 by Jacquie

Sunday, May 3: This has been a really crappy day. I did not sleep well last night, so I’m starting off a new week feeling pretty cruddy. I’m worrying that I won’t be able to get the grass-fed raw lamb (at Trader Joe’s) for Emily’s dog food. I *have* to get my butt up out of this computer chair and take Emily for another walk today. **heavy sigh** On the plus side, I did catch the UCC Long Beach service online, followed by a live episode of podcaster Jimmy Moore. So that is helping a bit….

Monday, May 4: Much better day today. I did work for Arlene Taylor’s website, in between checking Facebook posts for…I don’t know what.

Tuesday, May 5: Got up at 0-dark-thirty to get to Alameda before 8 o’clock. Stood in a long line again, from 8 until 8:47, then was out with a cart full of groceries by 8:59, so I went to Safeway and was out of there by 9:18, time to go to the Farmers’ Market and get 5 dozen organic, pasture-raised eggs! Also splurged for a 3-pack of organic strawberries, and mushrooms and green onions. It was time to fill the gas tank, so we did that in Alameda even though the price was higher ($3.09/gal) than in San Leandro ($2.89/gal).

Friday, May 8: I have decided to do a 60- or 72-hr fast, starting with after supper tonight. And go to either brunch or supper on Monday. It’s a “modified fast,” though, since I still need to take my pills twice a day with almond milk. And I will still have coffee with 2 T. heavy cream. Possibly bone broth (with Himalayan pink salt) at supper time.

Saturday, May 9: Linda felt good enough to commit to a ride with me today, and she put air in the tires of my trike, as well. We headed out the back gate (despite my lack of skills in unlocking and locking the padlock). I felt Emily should have the pleasure of walking on grass since we aren’t going out to Tracy these days. We rode almost to the marina but turned around at the dog park (which is locked but some people apparently jumped over the fence (with their big dog) and were playing frisbees in there. We were gone two hours. The first hour was mostly uphill plus I was riding against the wind, so the return trip was much easier!

Still fasting.
