COVID-19, Week 9

Posted on May 16, 2020 by Jacquie

Sunday, May 10: Mother’s Day. I was hungry for Kentucky Fried Chicken, but that’s not going to happen for a while. Linda didn’t feel up to riding her scooter today, so Emily and I went by ourselves in the trike. Yow! My legs were so sore from yesterday’s almost-5-miles ride. I barely made it around the perimeter of the park.

Just before bedtime, Linda asked me to check the front porch for an order from Target that she said had been delivered. I did, and it was; but there was a big box, somewhat heavy, that was on the front porch, too. I opened it to find a Stanley portable battery jump starter. At first we thought it might be from Aaron and Lisa because Aaron wants his portable jump starter back. But the note inside the box said it was from Jan and Karen. Wow! What a sweet thing for them to do! Now we can return Aaron’s to him. I’m still starting the van almost every day and sitting for 10-15 minutes with it running.

Monday, May 11: The day began with a technical issue for Arlene Taylor’s website (which took me literally all day, until we both decided it wasn’t worth it).

I had planned to end my fast at 60 hours, which would have been at breakfast/brunch, but I wasn’t hungry. All I wanted was coffee. So I went to 70 hours and had a full supper. We’ll wait and see how that affects my weight and my blood sugar in the morning.

It was a cloudy day, looked like rain, but Emily and I went for a walk anyway. I didn’t need sunglasses.

I got email from Orthofeet letting me know that my shoes were being shipped today.

On impulse, I created and placed an order with Whole Foods Market, via Amazon, with a doorstop delivery scheduled for tomorrow in a window of 10:00 a.m.-noon. It will be interesting to see if they text me about substitutions.

Tuesday, May 12: My fasting blood glucose this morning was 93 mg/dL (down from 114 mg/dL at the start of my 70-hr fast). My weight was 133.0 lb, down from 140.4 at the beginning. I had a full breakfast today, of 2 strips of uncured bacon and scrambled eggs with onion and cheese, plus a fat bomb and a mug of coffee with heavy cream.

My Whole Foods Market order was delivered at 11:30 a.m. today and all items were there (except the Almond Breeze unsweetened chocolate almond milk which I knew they were out of stock on).

Wednesday, May 13: We had our Zoom session with Alex.

Saturday, May 16: Lisa, Alex, and Aaron arrived at our house about 10 o’clock. Aaron had bought for us a battery charger that plugs into an extension cord to supply electricity to the battery all the time (and you disconnect it when driving). They also brought brisket and biscuits and sugar-free gelatin, more hand sanitizer, and another rainbow print mask. I sent the hair clippers set (that Linda had bought for Ole) home with Lisa. Alex came in and used the bathroom and played briefly with the purple pig and the rainbow ball.

Then I logged on to the Adventist Today discussion group, led by Loren Seibold and co-hosted by Jack Hoehn, MD. Interesting discussion.

After that, we drove to Safeway in Alameda and replenished dairy supplies and some odds and ends.

At home, I got an email ad from Sava, an online dispensary, that had a brand of 1:1 tincture on sale. So I went to their website, registered, and placed an order to be delivered tomorrow.

My Orthofeet shoes were delivered today, so I got them fitted with the orthotics, then Emily and I went for a walk.
