Tuesday, June 2, 2020: Because of all the rioting and looting taking place everywhere, including Oakland north of us (and who knows in all the other directions?), the City of San Leandro issued a curfew last night from 6:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The Walgreen’s a mile east of us was trashed and looted and so, apparently, all of the Walgreen’s stores were closed today. So when we went to Alameda on the first Tuesday, which is Senior Discount Day at Walgreen’s, the South Shore store was closed and boarded.
Fortunately, Safeway was open, and they had Almond Breeze unsweetened chocolate, a full supply of Fage 5% Total, and beef jerky with no sugar. After we got home, I placed an order with walgreens.com but I probably won’t get the senior discount. 🙁
Tonight the curfew was extended to be weeklong. That has no impact on Linda and Emily and me, as we are all cuddled in our home by that time, watching TV and having snacks. Or just water. Van is in the driveway, locked. The scooter and the trike are chained to our back porch. Inside, the front door and back door are locked. We are safe. For this moment.
Friday, June 5, 2020: This has been a very harrowing week for me. My walgreens.com order has (finally!) shipped, is coming from Illinois, not expected to arrive until Sunday. I am SO angry at the rioters and looters for causing us to have these curfews.
