Today was a busy day! It started at 0’dark-thirty when we got up early to get to Trader Joe’s by 8 o’clock for the seniors line, which actually went pretty fast today. Safeway took longer, only because I was looking at low-carb ice cream and verified that all three brands—Rebel, Halo Top, and Enlightened—have monkfruit (which spikes my blood sugar). But I discovered that Safeway has the sugar-free gelatin made with sucralose (Splenda). Then we got our usual pasture-raised eggs at the farmers’ market. On impulse, I bought a bag of raw almonds costing twice as much as almond from Trader Joe’s but, oh, so fresh and delicious! When I got back to the van, it was Linda’s turn for a treat. She was craving doughnuts from Donut Petit, the little gourmet doughnut shop on Santa Clara, so I got her a plain glazed one and a chocolate doughnut. (Sorry, no pics!)
We were home by 10 o’clock—three hours before Sava was scheduled to deliver my Sweet Jane CBD 1:1. It was so easy! A woman delivered it this time. We were both properly masked and social distanced. She only needed to see my photo ID and medical cannabis card as I held them out for her; she didn’t touch them. Then she just handed me the box. My “cookie jar” is now full for another month!
So I had some time to do more researching and writing on the stress chapter of my book before the online pain management group at 4 o’clock.
Julie Whitehead was the host for this meeting. I like it when she’s the host. There’s no technical glitches. She started right in with the 12 of us who were in attendance and did a Meditation. I could hear her clearly (unlike Angela Anderson). And then she facilitated a discussion on Mindful Eating. Very much like her discussions in the Pain Management Program of 2018. She is so good with the patients! As a Pain Psychologist, she always knows the right things to say to affirm them.
Francis started his movement routine with a 3-minute “song” which I couldn’t hear. Total silence! I could see his movements but didn’t hear the music. I should have asked in the Chat if everyone else could hear the music but I didn’t. I just sat there and watched.
The rest of his movement routine was done standing, and was an exercise in body position awareness as we shifted weight from the heels to the balls of the foot, and then shifted body weight from side to side. He gave us this link so we could follow up and repeat it at home.
