We had a rather uneventful shopping day in Alameda–post office, Walgreen’s, Safeway. I put Linda’s buttermilk in grocery bags that zip, and she also took the corners very carefully and slowly so nothing could have spilled.
I was glad to see Julie Whitehead facilitating the meditation and discussion. The topic was on “Stages of Change.” As usual, she took the last 5 minutes for “check-in” when she unmuted everyone. Everyone except me, that is. For some unknown reason, the hosts of this group (in WebEx) are not able to unmute me, so that means I never raise my hand icon to indicate that I want to say something. If I have something to say (and it only goes to the Panelists), I will write something in the Chat.
Which is what I did when Francis started the exercise part of the session. He started with a 4-minute video (something from Beyonce) during which we were to do 20 seconds of movements (anything we wanted) followed by 10 seconds of rest. This would repeat 8 times. I was not able to hear the video! Apparently he accessed the video on YouTube then shared his screen. Everyone else could hear it, but not me! This has happened before, but not always. In the beginning, I was able to hear the videos, so I don’t know what has changed.
I know that when Kinship had online Board meetings using WebEx, I had a very difficult time using it. I was unable to speak! Even though my microphone was unmuted. I had to communicate with Chat. I was glad when they switched to GoToMeeting, though I had some problems with it, too. The last board meeting was done in Zoom and that was perfect! I hope Kinship will continue to have board meetings in Zoom, as it’s highly unlikely we will ever go back to in-person board meetings.
Well, the rest of the exercises were fine. Francis showed a slide with 8 different “gentle” ways to twist your body, turning from hips, shoulders, or just head and neck. I had my video back on this week, so that means I felt better about my body image than I did last week.
