The young man who called this time identified himself as John. My main complaint is still the headaches I get with gabapentin. Even though I had decreased the dosage, 100 mg at a time, I still had the headaches, though slightly less intense. But the pain reduction was also less. I told John I was willing to try Lyrica.
He ordered the Lyrica for me to pick up in San Leandro the next day, and he told me to start the Lyrica tomorrow night at the same time that I would be taking the last 3 or 4 days of gabapentin.
I knew that Lyrica would be expensive! It was almost $90 co-pay for a few weeks’ supply. But I had to give it a shot.
I would learn later (from Francis) that his name is John Poon. He is not in the “Doctors Online” directory so I don’t know what he looks like.
The “pain pharmacists” work with Dr. Kalra, to follow up with patients to whom Dr. Kalra has prescribed pain medications. They are not shown in my list of “providers” that I can send email to. So if/when I want/need to contact a pain pharmacist, I have to either send email to Dr. Kalra or call the Pain Clinic (very limited hours!). That’s just the way it is.
