We began our Alameda day with a visit to the nail salon. Our toenails were in desperate need of cutting, and we needed the self-care of the leg massages that accompany a pedicure. In spite of the more than double cost of a pedicure since the pandemic, it felt worth it. The nail salon that Linda has gone to for many years is the best one we know of in Alameda, and takes every precaution against cross-contamination between customers.
Linda interacted with a male client who was getting a very fancy manicure with 3 different colors. She got a pale pink polish for her own toes, and I opted for a light orange, almost salmon, color. She had a hard time with holding Emily and trying to manage the pain in her right leg.
Online Pain Group
We got home just barely in time for my online Pain Group at 4 o’clock. I felt very introverted today and did not turn on my video at all, except for the last 2 minutes to wave goodbye.
Dr. Julie Whitehead will be on vacation for the next two weeks, and then will be back for her final session with us on October 19 before she goes to her new managerial position on the Kaiser Oakland campus. I will miss her since she was the first (and only) Pain Psychologist from my original Pain Management Group in January 2018. I know I will also lose Francis, my Pain Physical Therapist, in 2022, but I don’t want to think about that yet.
Francis gave us the link to this chair yoga video below:
