Evidence that stress has a direct effect on blood sugar: I checked BG 90 min. after dinner and it was 113. Then I had 4 hrs of a VERY stressful evening (related to work—I work at home) and bedtime BG was 174! YIKES!! Took an extra metformin even though it’s above the maximum daily dosage. *Sigh!*
Update: It is now morning (March 18). Up again to work (after 3 hrs sleep) and BG is 76. Go figure! Just ate 1 oz. almonds to see if that will prevent a liver dump.
Another update: After eating the above almonds and then working for two hours, I checked my BG and it was 124. I went back to bed, slept for two hours, just now got up (for real) and checked again. It was 108. One thing, I don’t think I’ll ever die from blood sugar being too low! Obviously, my liver is working. Just. Fine.
