More QiGong

Posted on July 13, 2021July 15, 2021 by Jacquie

I was so sleepy today! We all had such a hard time waking up this morning and didn’t get to the Alameda Farmers’ Market until about a quarter after nine. There were no more yellow crime scene tapes around the vendor kiosks. Ron (and everyone else) did not have masks. I didn’t even think about…

Pain Group Online Again

Posted on June 22, 2021June 22, 2021 by Jacquie

We began this day with coffee in the car, headed to Alameda at 10:30 a.m. This was to be our first nail salon appointment in many months! We drove around a lot before we could find a suitable parking place. I put Emily in the black soft carrier and left one opening a little unzipped…

Group Acupuncture 2021-06

Posted on June 17, 2021June 17, 2021 by Jacquie

It feels great to have Group Acupuncture nearly normal! We do still wear masks, but we didn’t have the plastic face shields today. I only “lost” one needle. The acupuncturist was the young Asian woman again. She was very polite and very competent in inserting the needles. The Eastern music was nice and helped me…

Chair Pilates

Posted on June 1, 2021June 2, 2021 by Jacquie

Today Francis facilitated the hour as Julie Whitehead was off. However, he gave the first 30 minutes to a PharmD (Janny Lee), a new member of the Union City Pain Clinic, who talked about pain medications. That seemed very strange to me as one of the cardinal rules of the Pain Management Program that I…

Acupuncture with Sophie #8

Posted on May 18, 2021May 18, 2021 by Jacquie

Tuesday, May 18, 2021 Linda has been very sick after her second COVID vaccine shot on Sunday. However, she seemed to feel better this morning, well enough to get up and make coffee then drive to Alameda. So we got eggs at the Farmers’ Market and then went to Trader Joe’s and Safeway. When we…

Day 1 of The 30-day Richard Osborn Challenge

Posted on May 1, 2021May 1, 2021 by Jacquie

The day was overcast, even though it was 65 F. The wind was chilly, so Emily and I bundled up and started out. We walked our usual route (6-8 blocks) and stopped for a break at the fish pond where we saw ducks and geese. There were fish today, but the water level was considerably…

Permanent Crowns

Posted on April 15, 2021May 1, 2021 by Jacquie

Today was the day I got my permanent crowns for my upper central incisors. I’m not sure yet if I will have to go back for an adjustment. It almost feels like I have an overbite. But the surfaces are so smooth. No cracks along the bottom edges that I had felt there for over…

Microsoft Teams, Take 2

Posted on April 13, 2021April 13, 2021 by Jacquie

Session 2 of the Pain Group with Microsoft Teams. I’m able to unmute my microphone (which was not possible in WebEx), but I still don’t know if anyone can hear me speaking (because I’ve never had opportunity to (want to) speak for any reason. Today the video with Francis was freezing a lot so it…

Microsoft Teams

Posted on April 6, 2021April 15, 2021 by Jacquie

So today, after the nine months I’ve spent with the Tuesday afternoon Kaiser Pain Group, it was our first experience using Microsoft Teams (instead of WebEx). Amazingly, there was a very large group in attendance—22 attendees! I’ve never seen the group with more than 10 or 12. Teams seemed very intuitive.

Diabetic Retinal Screening

Posted on April 2, 2021May 1, 2021 by Jacquie

Wednesday, March 31, 2021, 1:30 p.m. This is the first time getting a full diabetic retinal screening in the San Leandro Medical Facility. Room #302 (third floor, where my doctor’s office is located). However, when I got there, I was told that my appointment had been cancelled. They supposedly left me a phone message, but…
